In July 2004 Riverain purchased Deus Technologies and brought to market the
RapidScreenŽ RS-2000
and
RS-2000D
-- the only two lung cancer X-ray CAD products approved for marketing by the
FDA.
RapidScreenŽ is computer-aided detection (CAD) that aids radiologists in
detecting lung cancer at its earliest stages. The RS-2000 digitizes existing
routine PA/AP chest X-rays and marks regions of interest
that may indicate early-stage lung cancer. RapidScreenŽ identifies suspected
nodule sites and circles them for further analysis by the radiologist.
The RapidScreenŽ RS-2000 is an analog, DICOM-compatible, stand-alone system
that employs a multi-step image enhancement and analysis processing
system to identify regions that may contain indications of cancer and isolates
them from the normal structure of the heart, blood vessels, ribs and other
structures of the chest region.
The RS-2000D (RS-Digital) is a fully DICOM compatible version of the
RS-2000. After an average CAD processing time of only 30 seconds, output objects
are sent to users over the PACS network.
Developed in partnership with GE Medical Systems, RapidScreenŽ-Digital allows
connectivity to virtually any existing workstation. RS-Digital utilizes the
productivity and connectivity features of a digital department and provides the
radiologist with the CAD results with literally the click of a button.
